When I get my hair professionally straightened, I definitely want to get my money’s worth and make the style last as long as possible. Here are four tips I’ve learned that help me maintain my straightened hair for up to two weeks!
Use a dry shampoo.
Because I don’t want to ruin my straight hair by washing it, Batiste’s dry shampoo is my go-to. Dry shampoos easily remove oil and buildup, which helps to keep my hair looking fresh and fabulous for two weeks.
Keep it light.
The last thing I want to do is weigh down my freshly blown-out hair with heavy creams and lotions. That’s why I tend to just apply light oils and sprays to my hair such as OGX’s Moroccan Argan Oil and ORS’s Olive Oil Sheen Spray. Using lightweight products like these keep my straight hair manageable and fluffy.
Shower caps and headbands are the key.
Since I don’t want my hair to revert back to it’s naturally curly state just yet, shielding my hair from steam and water while I shower is a must. To do this, I tie my hair into a tight topknot, put on a thick headband to protect my hairline because that area of my hair tends to curl up very easily, and then throw on my trusty shower cap.
Satin pillowcases are your best friend.
Cotton pillowcases are known to cause hair to look dry and rough, which is exactly why I ditched my cotton pillowcase and purchased a satin one. Satin pillowcases help make my blow-outs last longer as they allow my hair to slip around without getting tangled and frizzy.
